Potential lead hazards include any area with deteriorating lead-based paint (peeling, chipping, chalking, cracking, damaged, or damp), especially those places that children can chew or that get a lot of wear-and-tear, such as: windows & window sills, doors & door frames, stairs, railings, banisters, and porches.

Potential lead hazards include any area with deteriorating lead-based paint (peeling, chipping, chalking, cracking, damaged, or damp), especially those places that children can chew or that get a lot of wear-and-tear, such as: windows & window sills, doors & door frames, stairs, railings, banisters, and porches.

If your property has any evidence of hazards, you must remediate lead hazards prior to scheduling a lead safe clearance examination, and getting a Lead Safe Certification.

If your property’s paint is in good shape without deterioration, and you make the determination that your rental unit does not need remediation work you can schedule assessment

 During a visual assessment we will be looking for the following

  1. Chipped, deteriorating, or peeling paint anywhere inside or outside of the home.  You must stabilize deteriorated paint.
  2. Bare, or exposed, soil. Cover the soil with straw or mulch.
  3. A home with visible dust.
  4.  Paint chips anywhere

 If the property fails the visual lead test we are

 If the property fails the visual lead test we are not permitted to collect samples and the Lead Clearance Test will not proceed until proper remediation and cleaning can pass a visual inspection.
